Kate
Perna fell in love with the practice of yoga immediately after attending her
first class in 2005. She received her
200 hr. Certification in July 2009 through the Advanced to Master Program with
Sondra Loring and Raghunath and is particularly drawn to Vinyasa, where
movements are initiated and connected by the breath. She wishes it was possible to express the
depth of her gratitude for this path and for the grace of her teacher, who
continues to instruct her on asana and the art of living well.
She is heavily influenced by Buddhist philosophy and the teachings of Pema Chodron who says that, “Buddhism is for those who do not wish to wait.” Her goals are to say “yes” to life, to be an advocate for peace, and to cultivate the courage to be transparent. She believes whole-heartedly in the power of yoga to transform and heal.
In addition to being a yoga teacher, she also holds an M.S. in Secondary Education and works for Bent on Change, a non-profit organization that teaches Transformative Life Skills to at-risk and underserved populations.
She lives happily with her husband and their six-year-old son; she is indebted to them for providing her with countless opportunities to practice being patient, compassionate, and present.
