Being the Change will give you an experience of how Patanjali’s Kriya Yoga teachings map out a systematic method for overcoming obstacles and achieving heartfelt goals. You will use asana, pranayama, sound, inquiry and meditation to identify heartfelt desires, to pursue them, and to nourish yourself in the face of the inevitable obstacles that may come your way.

SATURDAY, JULY 12th, 10am to 12pm             The Call to Change:

When the chasm between where you are and where you want to be feels wide, you are perfectly situated to begin your journey. In this session, we’ll use asana, breath ratios in asana, pranayama and inquiry to assess where you are and where you want to be.

SATURDAY, JULY 12th, 1pm to 3pm      Doing the Work:

If doing the same thing continues to produce the same undesirable results, maybe it’s time for new actions? We’ll explore why Yoga suggests that taking new actions ought to occur hand-in-hand with eliminating old habits. In this session, we’ll use asana and pranayama in a new way as well as a cleansing (kriya) practice to get you moving.

SUNDAY, JULY 13th, 10am to 12pm       Staying on the Path:

When you begin to step out on your own, there is often an initial burst of euphoria. As that fades, you may be tempted to give up your newfound agency and again rely on other people’s authority/experiences instead. Anticipating this, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras offers strategies for staying connected to your own inner compass and maintaining resilience in the face of adversity.  In this multidimensional practice, you will experience a fusion of asana, pranayama, sound-in-asana, inquiry and meditation.

SUNDAY, JULY 14th, 1pm to 3pm           What Fuels Your Journey?

Life takes energy: where does yours come from? Some of us are driven forward by a vision of the future; others are sustained by memories from the past; perhaps you are nourished by a faith in someone or something bigger than you? Of course, it may also be that you are thirsting for something to sustain you over the long haul. This session will focus on how the practice of Yoga can become a personalized ritual that creates sustenance, that spurs your growth and that evolves as you do. You will experience how different a ritualized practice can be.
